Game Notes:

• Chapman travels to Spokane where they have never defeated the Pirates.
They came close in 2012 on their last visit to the Pine Bowl, losing 17-14 on a
fourth-quarter field goal.

• The Panthers are 2-5 all-time against Whitworth, but have won two of the last
three, beating them in Orange in 2013 and '11. Chapman went unbeaten with a perfect
4-0 mark on the road last year.

• Coming off the Panthers' season-opening loss to Linfield, they will be looking
to keep another streak alive. Chapman has won four in a row following a loss
and has not lost consecutive games since ending the 2011 season on a four-game
losing streak.

• The Panthers' run-first offense was held to a three-year low of 146 yards on the
ground in their Week 1 loss to Linfield. Prior to that, Chapman had only been
held under 200 yards on the ground twice in the previous 18 games.

• In what's probably more a testament to the Linfield defense, rather than the
Chapman offensive line, the Panthers surrendered six sacks in their first game.
The Panthers' allowed just six sacks all of last year and ranked No. 12 in Division
III and led the SCIAC in that category.

• Chapman's defense was big in Week 1, limiting the Wildcats to their lowest regular-
season point total since 10/1/11. It will need to be big again on Saturday
as Whitworth comes in ranked No. 4 in Division III in passing (398.7 yds/g) and No.
6 in scoring (47.7 pts/g).

• The Pirates' defense has also been stellar, particularly behind the line of scrimmage
where its averaging 12 tackles for loss through three games.
