Reyes tabbed for offensive honor

ORANGE, Calif. – After 149 total yards and three scores, freshman Marcos Reyes earned his first career SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week selection. His effort helped the 16th-ranked Chapman University football team to a 44-6 lopsided win over Cal Lutheran.

The freshman running back from Santa Cruz, Calif. ran for 101 yards on just 12 carries and caught three passes for 48 yards while finding the end zone three time. His 35-yard run opened up Chapman's first scoring drive that ended with Reyes punching in the TD from two yards out. Just four plays into Chapman's next drive, Reyes caught a screen pass and took it 40 yards down the sideline for his second touchdown.

In the third quarter Reyes found the end zone again on a seven yard pass from junior Jonston MacIntyre to complete the hat trick. It is the second time this season that Reyes has scored three touchdowns in a single game to run his total up to nine for the season. His 101 yards was just a yard short of his season-high on the ground.

The Panthers stayed undefeated with the win over Cal Lutheran and will take on Pomona-Pitzer on the road at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
