Ragas selected as SCIAC Special Team Player of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Nico Ragas made Chapman history on Saturday and has been named the SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Ragas scored both of Chapman's touchdowns in the second half – the last one on a kick return.

After CMS hit a field goal to get on the board, Ragas took the kickoff at six yard line and sprinted untouched for 94 yards for a touchdown. The kick return TD was the third of his career – the most in Chapman history.

Last season, Ragas took back two kicks to become the first Chapman player with multiple kickoff return TDs. The speedy junior from Lakewood took this one at the six, faked a handoff to sophomore Wyatt Hardin and sprinted up the sideline to reach the end zone just over two minutes after catching a 30-yard touchdown.

The Panthers locked up at least a share of the SCIAC title and the automatic qualification in the NCAA Tournament with a 41-17 win over CMS. They wrap up the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. at La Verne. The tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
