Spring athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.
Strong final round pushes men's golf into fifth at Championships

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished the SCIAC Championships on a high note on Tuesday, shooting a team-combined score of 300 just two strokes behind the round leaders Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and finishing in fifth place overall in the three-day event at Oak Valley Golf Club.
Final round readies Panthers for SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University men’s golf team used a dual match against SCIAC rival Whittier College as its final tune up before this weekend’s SCIAC Championships. The Panthers and Poets played at California Country Club in Whittier on Monday with senior Kent Paisley and sophomore Kyle John tying for third place overall with scores of 6-over 78.
Panthers finish sixth in SCIAC Tournament #2

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished sixth in its second SCIAC tournament hosted by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Los Serranos Country Club over the weekend of April 11-12. The Panthers finished two rounds with a score of 615, finishing ahead of SCIAC rivals Pomona-Pitzer (620) and Whittier College (643).

A product of Chapman’s international recruiting program through undergraduate admissions, the Italian import has been able to combine his passion for Italian culture with his course of study and still play golf at a high level. Gio has found time to succeed in two majors, start a business with friends and excel on the golf course, ranking among the top players in the SCIAC with a 6-handicap this season.

Pick your cliché, but it was no day at the beach nor day at the ranch for the Chapman University men’s golf team on Tuesday as the Panthers dropped their final non-conference dual match to host Hope International University 307-314 at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.
Panthers tumble down the leaderboard at West Cup

A rough second day by four-fifths of the Chapman University men’s golf team saw the Panthers fall from seventh place on Monday to 12th place at the end of the West Cup Tournament on Tuesday. Sophomore Bryan Wise placed in a tie for 16th on the leaderboard with a second-round 77 and third-round 71 and finished at 12-over par at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.
Men's golf defeats Hope International by five strokes

Behind a season-low round score of 69 (3-under par) from sophomore Bryan Wise, the Chapman University men’s golf team earned its first dual match win of the spring, defeating visiting Hope International University 298-303 at Tustin Ranch Golf Course on Friday. Wise’s score was the difference in the match as he bested the Royals’ Justin Cosca, who placed second overall with an overall score of 73 (1-over par).

Panthers finish fifth in opening SCIAC tournament

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished fifth in its first SCIAC tournament hosted by Occidental College at Robinson Ranch Golf Club over the weekend of Feb. 21-22. The team finished two rounds with a score of 655, finishing ahead of SCIAC rivals Occidental College (658) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (660). The Panthers fell to University of Redlands who placed first with a final score of 599.

The Chapman University men’s golf team had its final tune up before opening SCIAC play this weekend as the Panthers played Tierra Rejada Golf Course in Moorpark on Wednesday. Sophomore Bryan Wise led the Panthers with a team low round of 75 (+3), while Cal Lutheran University’s Andrew McLean led all players with a one-over-par 73.

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished ninth at the CA State Intercollegiate tournament which wrapped up on Tuesday at Diamond Valley Golf Club hosted by University of La Verne. The Panthers posted a three-round score of 917, finishing back of tournament winner Cal State San Marcos and 50 shots behind second-place SCIAC-rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
