SANTA CLARITA, Calif.- The Chapman University men's golf team finished fifth in its first SCIAC tournament hosted by Occidental College at Robinson Ranch Golf Club over the weekend of Feb. 21-22. The team finished two rounds with a score of 655, finishing ahead of SCIAC rivals Occidental College (658) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (660). The Panthers fell to University of Redlands who placed first with a final score of 599.

Sophomore Bryan Wise led Chapman on the 72-par course over both rounds played. Wise tied for tenth place overall with 78 and 80 scores. Wise improved upon his highest score of 82 (+10) from last season at Robinson Ranch recorded in March 2014.

Not far behind and tying for 25th place in the tournament was senior Giovanni Chiappano finishing with an 82 par for both rounds. Chiappano's highest score at this course remains 73 (+1) par from last season's TMC Spring Invitational tournament.

All Chapman players finished within the top 40 of the tournament, including sophomore Kyle John who finished just four strokes behind Chiappano recording a 164 overall.

The Panthers will go on to face Cal Lutheran University, who finished second in this tournament, on Tuesday, March 10 at the Chapman home course of Tustin Ranch Golf Course. Chapman will then host Hope International on Monday, March 16 at Tustin Ranch Golf Course.
