Men's golf moves up to sixth after day two of the SCIAC Championships

BEAUMONT, Calif. – Freshman Griffin Tso continues to lead the Chapman University men's golf team on day two of the SCIAC Championships. The Panthers moved into sixth as a team with a 23-over par score of 311. The Panthers sit 21 strokes back from first place California Lutheran.

Tso is tied for 16th on the leaderboard, shooting a 78 (+6) on day two for a two-day total of 152 (+8). The freshman currently sits fourteen strokes back from tournament leader John McCord of Redlands who has recorded a 138 (-6) over the past two rounds.  

Junior Bryan Wise improved three strokes from yesterday and moved into a tie for 19th at nine-over par after shooting a 75 (+3) on day two. 

Junior Chuck Pedone moved to 24th after recording a 79 (+7), while senior Nickolas Gates moved into a three-way tie for 30th after recording a 79 (+7) as well on day two.

Occidental's Colton Bares had the best round on day two improving from 79 (+7) on day one to 68 (-4) on day two, improving to sixth overall. 

Cal Lutheran moved into first place on the team leaderboard. The top-four teams of Cal Lutheran (+14). Redlands (+15), Occidental (+16), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (+17) all sit within four strokes, setting up an exciting finish for tomorrow's final round.

The championship event concludes tomorrow at Oak Valley Golf Club.
