Golf finishes sixth in SCIAC Tournament

BEAUMONT, Calif. –Junior Bryan Wise finished tied for tenth in the SCIAC Tournament to lead the Chapman University men's golf team to a sixth place finish on Tuesday afternoon at Oak Valley Golf Club. The Panthers finished the tournament with a three day overall score of 912 (+48).

Wise shot an impressive 71 (-1), his best score of the tournament, on the final day to earn a three day score of 224.  Wise was just one of just five golfers to hit under par on day three and led the Panthers with nine birdies.

Freshman Griffin Tso finished tied for 18th in the tournament recording a three-day score of 227, while shooting a 75 (+3) on day three of the tournament.

Junior Chuck Pedone improved to 21st after recording a 73 (+1) in round three to improve his overall score to 228. Pedone had seven birdies and one eagle over the three-day tournament.

No. 3-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (867) was named the SCIAC Tournament Champion, improving from third place on day two of the tournament by having four golfers hit under par on day three. Matt Shuman of CMS had the low round score of 64 (-8) on day three and earned second place in the tournament.

John McCord of Redlands was the overall individual champion recording a three-round score of 210 (-6). The Bulldogs finished second in the tournament behind McCord's effort with an overall total score of 880 (+16).
