Men's golf takes eighth at SCIAC #1
BEAUMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team finished eighth as a team at the first SCIAC tournament of the season. Junior Avery Keating and senior Ricky Hoefert led the Panthers individually.
Both Keating and Hoefert finished the two-round tournament tied for 25th after carding a 15-over 159. Hoefert fired off a 76 (+4) on day one but followed it up with an 11-over 83 on Sunday. Keating was six-over on Saturday but added three strokes on Sunday.
Every team in the field added strokes in the second round. After the first day, Chapman was in seventh as a team but just two strokes out of fifth. With each player adding strokes on day two, the team fell into eighth.
Freshman Bradley Lu shot an 80-90 to finish 26-over par in 39th. Junior Brody Hval was two strokes back of Lu to take 40th.
The Panthers head out to La Vegas, Nev. this weekend for the MJGA Collegiate Invitational.
