Adranly named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University senior men's soccer and football standout Jimmy Adranly has been named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week. He becomes the first Panther in school history to earn the award as Chapman is in its first year as a member of the conference.

Adranly earned the award after leading the Panthers' soccer team to consecutive wins on the road against Cal Lutheran and UC Santa Cruz, where he combined to make 17 saves and lower his goals-against average to 1.19 this season. His eight-save performance in Santa Cruz on Friday helped Chapman – ranked No. 2 in the West Region – defeat the Banana Slugs 3-1 on the road for the first time since 1999.

Following that important soccer win on Friday, Adranly left the team and traveled back to be with the football team in the Panthers' 30-21 loss against La Verne. In that game he tied a school record with a 69-yard punt and averaged just under 50 yards with three punts on the day, including one inside the opponent 20 yard line. The senior has yet to qualify for the national leaders, but his current average of 42.8 yards would rank No. 3 in Division III. He needs 3.6 punts per game to qualify and he is averaging 3.2.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
