Hertel tallies two goals to force draw

ORANGE, Calif — Men's soccer played itself to its second draw of the season against San Diego Christian, 2-2, despite being down two goals early in the contest.

The Hawks struck first tallying goals in the 12th and 27th minutes, but before the half was over, Chapman found its way back into a tie game.

Both goals were scored by Sebastian Hertel. The forward scored his first and second goals of the season within four minutes of each other near the end of the half, the 37th and 41st minutes.

The first goal came on a sweet right-footer from 20-yards out to the top-left corner of the net, assisted by Garrett Lindfelt. Four minutes later, Zach Rosenstrauch poked a pass towards the Hawks' goal, and as the keeper came out, Hertel chipped the ball over his reach, rolling and rolling, and finally finding its home in the back of the net.

The scoring would halt there.

The Panther continue play on Wednesday as they will travel to Occidental to face the Tigers in the first SCIAC contest of the year.
