Buford leads Panthers in Ojai Tournament

OJAI, Calif. – Senior Brett Buford earned singles wins to lead the Chapman University men's tennis team at the 116th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament this weekend. Buford reached the round of 16 singles play before being eliminated.

Buford, the No. 11 seed, received a first round bye. The senior then went on to defeat Thomas Suchodolski 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. It wasn't until round 16, that Bufford was eliminated by Daniel Morkovine, the No. 7 seed from Claremont- Mudd-Scripps, 7-6, 6-2.

Junior Charlie Werman fell in the first round to Adrian Sirovica from UC Santa Cruz 6-5, 7-5 in the first match of the day on Friday.

Chapman (2-13 overall, 1-4 SCIAC) will return home on Friday, April 29 for a 2 p.m. match against University of Redland.
