Men’s tennis rolls to second consecutive victory

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team beat the visiting Vassar College Brewers 6-3 earlier this afternoon to notch its second consecutive victory this week.

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead after the doubles round. Junior Len Kamemoto and senior Matthew Mead fell 1-8 on court No. 1, but doubles partners Jacob Lee and Brock DeHaven and Adrien Rooney and Troy Manditch each beat their opponents 8-4.

Chapman made quick work of the Brewers in the singles matches, taking courts one through four to earn the victory. Kamemoto beat his opponent 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 1, Rooney won 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 2, Lee won 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 3 and freshman Luke Bennett won 6-1, 6-3 on the fourth court.

Senior Igor Belineli fell 3-6, 2-6 on court No. 5 and sophomore Terry Kang put up a fight in the first set but fell 6-7 (10-12), 3-6.

The Panthers return to Lastinger Tennis Center on Sunday, March 17 to host The College of Wooster at 1 p.m.
