A total of 22 men’s and women’s water polo players from Chapman University have been honored by the Western Water Polo Association for their outstanding work in the classroom. Ten Panther men and a dozen women were named to the WWPA All-Academic Team for 2009-10.

As a team, the Chapman University men’s water polo team posted a 3.129 grade-point average in 2009 with seven players earning Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Awards.

Davis men's water polo team built a 6-0 halftime lead and held on to defeat tournament host Chapman University 11-5 on the second day of the Western Water Polo Association championships Saturday at the Allred Aquatics Center. With the victory, the Aggies earned a berth in the WWPA fifth place game on Sunday against Air Force.

The Loyola Marymount University men’s water polo team proved every bit deserving of the top-seed in this weekend’s Western Water Polo Association championships this weekend. The Lions cruised to a 13-3 victory over host Chapman University at the Allred Aquatics Center on Friday and advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round – two wins away from a third consecutive NCAA championships berth.

Chapman University men’s water polo player’s Alex Mulé and Taylor Roszkos both earned All-WWPA honors as announced by the Western Water Polo Association. Mulé, a senior, earned second-team All-WWPA while Roszkos was selected to the WWPA All-Freshman Team for his play in goal. This is the first time in recent years that two Chapman players have been selected to the All-WWPA Team in the same season.

For the first time, Chapman University is hosting the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Men’s Championship Nov. 20-22 at the Allred Aquatics Center. Chapman University earned the No.8 seed and plays its first game of the tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m. against top-seeded Loyola Marymount University.

The Chapman University men’s water polo scored just two goals, and were held scoreless for the first half, as No. 15 Air Force defeated the Panthers 10-2 in WWPA play on Saturday morning at the Allred Aquatics Center. Chapman’s two goals is its lowest offensive output since 2007 when the Panthers lost 18-2 to then Division III top-ranked Redlands.

Polo stays red hot, wins fifth straight

Less than 24 hours after taking down the No. 1-ranked team in Division III, the Chapman University men’s water polo team did not let up. The Panthers remained red hot, defeating visiting Occidental College 13-6 at the Allred Pool on Sunday afternoon to extend their season-high winning streak to five matches and won for the ninth time in 10 games. The Panthers also improved to 4-2 at home this year.

For five seasons, the Chapman University men’s water polo team had been unable to defeat Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, but that all changed on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers took down the top-ranked Sagehens 10-5 at the Allred Aquatics Center. Chapman last defeated Pomona in 2003 having gone 0-9 against the Sagehens since then.

A season-high 14 different players scored a goal for the Chapman University men’s water polo team as the Panthers cruised to a 22-6 win over California Institute of Technology at the Allred Aquatics Center on Wednesday afternoon. Chapman’s win pushed its record to 10-9 and back over the .500 mark for the first time since the opening weekend of the season.
