Panthers go 3-1 at Gray Troyer Tournament

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University men's water polo team recorded three wins over the weekend at the Gary Troyer Tournament hosted by the Claremont Colleges. The Panthers moved to 6-7 overall with the three wins over the weekend.

On Friday, Chapman opened up the tournament with a pair of wins, first defeating Division I George Washington 14-9 and then following up with a 15-5 victory over No. 10-ranked Washington & Jefferson College.

The Panthers then went on a three-game winning streak Saturday morning, recording a 15-8 victory over Penn State-Behrend. Chapman dropped the final game of the tournament 11-10 to Cal Baptist, finishing the weekend 3-1.

The Chapman offense was led by sophomore DR Jeff O'Brien and senior UTL Willis Allen with each attacker recording double digits goals. Allen now ranks 7th all-time in program history with 76 career assists after tallying four over the weekend.

Senior GK Stephen Neil defended the net once again for the Panthers tallying 48 blocks, including 18 against George Washington University.

Chapman will travel to Riverside, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 10 for its last fall tournament before SCIAC play. The Panthers will then host Cal Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 17 for their home-opener at Alfred Pool beginning at 11 a.m.
