O'Brien's big numbers earn him SCIAC nod

ORANGE, Calif. - Senior Jeff O'Brien has led the Chapman men's water polo team in offensive statistics throughout the first nine games of the 2017 season. The Newport Beach native has tallied 17 goals this year, giving him a 1.88 goal per game average and earning him the SCIAC Athlete of the Week award.

O'Brien has also assisted on 10 goals, putting him at No. 2 on the Chapman squad in assists. He leads the Panthers in goals scored against an NCAA Division I top-15 team, tied with teammates Kevin Dayan and Brady Hoskins with three goals each. Combining his goals and assists, O'Brien is second on the team in points with 27.

The senior also earns nearly four and a half ejections per game, having tallied 40 earned ejections in the first third of the 2017 season.
