Dimicco qualifies for regionals on day 1 of SCIAC Championships

WHITTIER, Calif. – Chapman University women's diver freshman Kayla Dimicco earned sixth place at the SCIAC Championships at the Lillian Slade Aquatics Center on Thursday in the 1-meter springboard event, qualifying for the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in the process.

On the 1-meter board, Dimicco recorded a Chapman University record scoring 416.70 and qualifying for the NCAA Regional tournament. Her best dive of the day was a forward dive scoring a 24.

Dimmico will join freshman Joey Luba at the 2015 NCAA Regionals at Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas) on Feb. 27-28.

On the 3-meter board, Luba qualified for finals on with a season-high score of 495.05. The freshman will compete in the Championship Finals on Friday at 4 p.m.  

In the 800-yard free relay the women finished seventh with a time of 8:05.49. The team consisted of Riley Ford, Michelle Hutchins, Kyra Ruegg and Paige Davis.

In the 200-yard medley relay the women finished seventh with a time of 1.57.58 while the men finished eighth with a final time of 1:47.68.
