Hall, Randazzo chosen for SCIAC weekly honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Jake Randazzo and sophomore Avery Hall were selected as SCIAC Athletes of the Week after the first conference meet of the season. Randazzo was named the men's Diver of the Week while Hall earned women's Swimmer of the Week honor after leading Chapman to a dual win over Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier.

Hall finished in first place in all four events she swam in to lead the Panthers to a 2-0 start to the season, including an upset dual win over nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer. Hall anchored both winning relays, beginning the meet with a 400 medley relay victory at 4:00.22. She swam a 24.77 in the 50 free to hit the wall first and was over one second faster than the second-place finisher in the 100 free at 53.49. She ended the day with a 24.24 anchor leg split in the 200 free relay to help the Panthers to a relay sweep.

Randazzo made his Chapman debut with a first-place finish on the 3-meter board and a second place finish on the 1-meter board while hitting qualifying marks on both boards. On the 3-meter board, he topped the competition with a 301.60. He scored a 289/90 on the 1-meter to finish off a solid Panther debut.

The Panthers have another SCIAC double dual next week when they head to Claremont, Calif. to take on CMS and Caltech.
