Panthers set pair of career-bests at Pomona-Pitzer invite

ORANGE, Calif. – The men's and women's track and field teams competed this past weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer invite. Freshman Sheridan Scifres and sophomore Hannah Pickerill led the pack, each setting career bests in their respective races.

Scifres ran a 2:28.69 in the 800-meter run, beating her previous record by nearly five seconds. Pickerill competed in two races, but set her career best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.53. The sophomore also sprinted to a 29.75 finish in the 200-meter dash.

Sophomore Nika Cokas rounded out the women's side, finishing the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:20.33.

Back from injury, junior Ronald Washington ran the 100- and 200-meter dashes, setting season-bests in both. Washington recorded a time of 11.37 in the 100-meter dash and a time of 23.33 in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Drake Butler finished strong in the 5000-meter run, coming in 19th place with a time of 15:54.19. Finishing up the men's side was sophomore Jonah Soltes, who recorded a time of 4:40.75 in the 1500-meter run.

The Panthers travel back to Pomona-Pitzer on Sat, April 15 to compete in the SCIAC Multi-Dual #3.
