ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University women's basketball team snapped its five-game losing streak after defeating Bristol University 106-84 on Monday at the Hutton Sports Center.
Chapman junior F Natalia Ebrahimian recorded a career-high of 28 points and matched her season-high of eight rebounds in 22 minutes of play.
The Panthers jumped out early over the Bears to take a 34-7 lead ten minutes into the game. The Bears battled back narrowing the Panthers' lead 38-17 but back-to-back jump shots by Ebrahimian and senior C Ivory Hallstein kept the Bears at a distance. The Panthers ended the half leading Bristol 62-32.
Chapman's high energy offense extended its lead 75-37 at the 15:22 mark and ultimately pulled away in the last ten minutes of the game, maintaining at least a 15 point lead from that mark on.
Hallstein and freshman G Jaime Hum-Nishikado led the Panthers with 12 points each while senior G Andrea Villanueva recorded a career-high of 12 assists and three steals.
Chapman now 2-5 this season will play Bethel University (Minn.) at home on Tuesday Dec. 30 at 8:30 p.m. as the Panthers look to go 2-0 in the Panther Bulldog Classic.
