Yamamoto debuts with SCIAC weekly award

ORANGE, Calif. – After an efficient debut for the Chapman University women's basketball team, Mia Yamamoto was been selected as the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Yamamoto came off the bench of Chapman 78-35 win over Macalester and scored 17 points in 14 minutes. Less than 30 seconds after checking in for the first time. Yamamoto took the ball to the rim, drew the foul, dropped in the layup and knocked down a free throw for a three-point play.

She went on to score seven points in the first quarter to help Chapman pull away early and continue to pull away throughout the game. She also had two assists, three rebounds and a steal in her first game.

The Panthers next take on Whitman on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Redlands, Calif.
