Strand captures another SCIAC weekly award

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Julia Strand was again recognized as the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week, following the Panthers' win over Caltech. Strand posted her eighth double-double of the season to lead the Panthers to the victory.

With 18 points and 13 rebounds, Strand had a double-double for the third consecutive game and for the sixth time in the last eight games. In the first quarter, she scored nine consecutive points to take Chapman from a 7-1 deficit to a 10-7 lead. Once the rest of the Panthers began to heat up, Strand distributed five assists over the last three quarters.

Over the last four games, Strand is averaging 27 points and 11 rebounds per game.

Chapman takes on Redlands on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before heading out to Occidental on Saturday. The Panthers are in a three-way tie for fifth in the SCIAC standings.
