Lewis takes first overall at final Fall Invite

Palm Springs, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team took first place overall at the Marymount Fall Invite last week with a team score of 640 (+64). Senior Emily Lewis led the way with a first place finish at the two-round match and currently ranks No. 6 in NCAA Division III.

Lewis earned both the daily low rounds and daily leaders as she shot a 74 (+2) in round one and a 75 (+3) in round to for an overall score of 149 (+5). She beat out the next opponent by five strokes to take the title.

Senior Malia Valder took a sixth place overall finish after an 80 (+8) on day one and an 82 (+10) on day two. Freshman Sydnee Dimascio finished just two strokes behind Valder with an overall score of 165 (+21) for an eighth place finish.

Sophomore Lauren Settle and senior Marisa Bhanubandh finished tied for ninth place with a total score of 168 (+24). Settle posted a low-round score of 83 (+11) in round two, while Bhanubandh's low-round score came in the first round at a score of 82 (+10).

The Panthers also competed against Occidental late last month, with freshman Kristen Lee taking first place with a score of 78 (+6). Lewis and Settle both tied for second after shooting a 79 (+7), while Bhanudandh and Valder finished in eight and ninth place, respectively.

The Panthers take a break this winter before returning to competition in Spring of 2019.
