Lee sets school record and finishes in top-5

VENTURA, Calif. – Sophomore Kristen Lee turned in the lowest two-round score in the four-year history of the Chapman University women's golf team at the CA State Invitational this week. She finished in fifth on the leaderboard after shooting two-over par for the tournament with a 146.

As a team, the Panthers finished in sixth place with a 638 (+62). Chapman was tied for fifth after shooting a 316 (+28) in the first round. UC Santa Cruz pulled ahead into fifth with a 308 (+20) on Tuesday while the Panthers shot a 322 (+34).

Lee shot a 75 (+3) in the first round but moved her way up the leaderboard in the second round after shooting one-under par and finished just three strokes back from the medalist. Her one-under 71 was just the second round in the last four years to go under par for Chapman women's golf.

Fellow sophomore Sydnee DiMascio was the next Panther on the leaderboard, finishing tied for 26th place overall. DiMascio shot a 77 (+5) on the first day and an 80 (+8) in the second round to finish with a total score of 157 (+13).

Senior Haylie Bantle finished six strokes behind DiMascio, tying for 34th overall. The veteran improved upon her first round score of 83 (+11) to shoot an 80 (+8) in the second round. Junior Brooke Leet shot a 172 (+28) to round out the scoring for the Panthers.

The Panthers return to the course for their first home match of the 2019 fall season as they host Occidental at Tustin Ranch Golf Club on Sunday, Sept. 22.
