Women's golf debuts at No. 19 in WGCA rankings

ORANGE, Calif. – After a school-record breaking season-opening effort, the Chapman University women's golf team jumped into the Women's Golf Coaches Association's national rankings. The Panthers debuted in the rankings at No. 19.

Chapman was not ranked nor receiving votes in the preseason poll but leapfrogged all the way to 19th in the top-25 poll after a solid effort at the CA State Intercollegiate. The Panthers placed fourth in the tournament after ending the second round with a school record team score of 290.

The three teams above the Panthers in the team standings are all ranked in the top-15. Chapman was five strokes better than Claremont-Mudd-Scripps but remains one spot behind the Athenas in the national rankings.

Chapman and CMS will go head-to-head in a dual match on Sep. 25 in Upland, Calif.
