Spring athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.

Five Panthers named to All-SCIAC lacrosse team

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team was well represented when the All-SCIAC women’s lacrosse team was announced on Monday with five Panthers receiving All-Conference honors. Sophomore Gretchen Rodenberger and junior Brooke Martini headlined the list with first team honors, while freshman Becka Wachtel, junior Kylee Moore and senior Kristin Robbins were all named to second team. In addition sophomore GK Tara Sonnemaker was named to the sportsmanship team.

Oxy eliminates women's lacrosse from SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team saw its season come to an end with a 9-5 loss to host Occidental College in the semifinal match of the SCIAC Championships on Saturday night at Jack Kemp Stadium. The Tigers completed a three-game season sweep over the Panthers and earned a berth in the conference championship final against Pomona-Pitzer next Saturday.

Be careful what you wish for. The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team wanted and earned the No. 3 seed and home field advantage by virtue of a tiebreaker in a three-way tie for third place in the SCIAC regular season standings. As a result, the Panthers earned a date with No. 6 seed and winless Whittier College on Wednesday night in the first round quarterfinal of the SCIAC Championships. But the Poets gave Chapman all it could handle before the Panthers narrowly escaped with a 9-8 win at Wilson Field.

Lost and found: Chapman offense comes back in 'Senior Night' win

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team found its offense and earned a big 14-8 victory over visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday night at Wilson Field. The ‘Senior Night’ win boosted the Panthers into a tie for fourth place in the standings, with the potential to earn the No. 3 seed in the SCIAC Championships if Redlands loses on Monday.

The Chapman University women's lacrosse team found its offense and earned a big 14-8 victory over visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday night at Wilson Field. After scoring just four goals in each of its past two games, Chapman (7-5 overall, 5-5 SCIAC) scored 14 in this one.

WLAX wins fifth straight to move into second-place tie

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team flirted with visiting Whittier College all night before handing the Poets a 12-8 defeat at Wilson Field on Wednesday. Every time Whittier got close, the Panthers pulled away resulting in their fifth consecutive win of the season.

Last-minute rally, OT goal boost Panthers over Redlands

The Chapman University women?s lacrosse team scored twice in the final 33 seconds of regulation to overcome a two-goal deficit, and then defeated visiting University of Redlands in overtime 14-13 in a SCIAC match at Wilson Field on Saturday night. The win marks the Panthers? fourth straight victory and gives them the regular season sweep over Redlands.

Matinee Monday: Chapman scores 18 in win over Plymouth State

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team earned its most lopsided win of the season, defeating visiting Plymouth State University (N.H.) 18-5 at Wilson Field in a rare Monday matinee. Chapman led from start to finish, including scoring the game’s final eight goals to cruise to its second win in a row.

Chapman (3-3) put together its biggest offensive game of the season, scoring a season-high 18 goals to beat Plymouth State 18-5, including a team-high four goals from sophomore A Gretchen Rodenberger, and three apiece from junior M Brooke Martini and sophomore M Tessa Oliaro. Junior A Kylee Moore also scored a goal and added four assists for Chapman.

Women's lacrosse falls at home to Occidental

The Chapman University women’s lacrosse team dropped its second home game in a row, falling to visiting Occidental College 15-4 at Wilson Field on Saturday night. The Tigers led from start to finish, building a 10-1 halftime lead and cruising to their first win of the season.

Pomona-Pitzer comeback spoils women's lacrosse home opener

February 25, 2015

The Pomona-Pitzer Colleges women’s lacrosse team scored the final four goals of the game and held host Chapman University scoreless over the final 18:48 to come-from-behind for a 10-9 at Wilson Field on Wednesday night. The Sagehens’ rally spoiled the Panthers’ home debut, handing Chapman (1-1 overall, 1-1 SCIAC) its first loss of the season.
