Holloway ends freshman season with All-Region honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman defender Faith Holloway was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region third team. Holloway was a mainstay on the Panthers' back line, starting all 20 matches this year.

The freshman from Rocklin, Calif., boosted Chapman's defensive efforts this year and helped the Panthers reach the SCIAC title game for the first time since 2012. Holloway led all field players with 1746 minutes played.

She helped Chapman post seven shutouts this season, including a shutout of nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer in the SCIAC semifinal. The seven shutouts were the most for the Panthers since 2012.

Holloway also scored her first career goal in a crucial 2-1 overtime win over Occidental on Oct. 19 when she headed in a corner kick to give Chapman the initial lead.

After finishing in eighth place in the SCIAC a year ago, the Panthers went 9-9-2, qualified for the SCIAC Tournament and earned a spot in the title match. Holloway was one of just three freshmen to be honored on the NSCAA All-West Region teams.
