Brownfield earns SCIAC Swimmer of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Riley Brownfield helped the Chapman University women's swim team to a SCIAC tri-meet sweep this past weekend, earning this week's SCIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Brownfield took first place in all three races she competed in, helping lift the Panthers to a 121.0 – 120.0 win over Redlands and a 173.0 – 53.0 win over Caltech. The rookie took first in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.16, followed by a first place finish in the 100 free with a time of 56.29. She then helped the 400 free relay team to a top-place finish with a finals time of 3:47.50.

The Redwood City native is the first Chapman swimmer to earn a SCIAC weekly award in the 2019-2020 season. Junior diver Olivia Guarino earned Diver of the Week in November.

The Panthers make their 2019-20 Allred Olympic Pool debut on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they host La Verne in a SCIAC dual at 10:30 a.m.
