Hammer ends career with historic All-SCIAC nod

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Andrea Hammer closed out her Chapman career by making Chapman history as the first First Team All-SCIAC women's tennis selection in school history. Hammer also became the first tennis student-athlete to earn All-SCIAC honors twice in her career.

After earning second team honors as a sophomore, Hammer took home first team honors as a senior. She played at the top of the singles and doubles lineup in every match this season to lead the Panthers.

The senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., was ranked 22nd in the latest ITA singles regional rankings while she and Saunders earned a No. 10 doubles ranking in the West Region.

She posted a 9-14 record in singles matches this year, including a 7-11 record in dual matches and a 3-4 record in a tough SCIAC. In doubles, Hammer went 13-10 overall this season with an 11-8 record in dual matches with partner Madeline Saunders. In SCIAC matches, the Panthers top pair went 4-3.

The Panthers ended the season finishing sixth in the SCIAC standings.
