Women’s tennis drops final non-conference match to Colby

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman women's tennis team fell 7-2 to the visiting Colby College Mules earlier this afternoon. Sophomore duo Alisa Ogranovich and Madison Ross tallied the Panthers' first team point as they defeated their opponent 8-2 on the No. 1 doubles court.

Partners Anna Kaplan and fellow sophomore Naomi Lee fell 8-0 on the second court and sophomore Vasilisa Trofimova and junior Nicole Fouts had the longest match, taking their opponents to 14 sets before eventually falling 8-6 on the third and final court.

After taking a 2-1 lead, Colby dominated on the singles courts to secure their third consecutive victory. Kaplan was the only Panther to earn a victory, beating her opponent 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 6 court.

Ogranovich came back strong after a dropped first set to take the second set on the No. 1 court but ended up falling 0-6, 6-0, 3-6. Ross took to the No. 2 court, falling 1-6, 3-6. Trofimova fell on the No. 3 court 2-6, 4-6, sophomore Delara Fotovatjah fell 3-6, 1-6 on the fourth court and Fouts put up a strong fight on the No. 5 court but lost 2-6, 6-7.

The Panthers kick off SCIAC play this weekend as they host Whittier at Lastinger Tennis Center on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m.
