Women's tennis takes the court

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman women's tennis team gets ready to take the court after the shortened 2019-20 spring season. All eight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams will spring back into action with Chapman competing in their first home match on Wed., Feb 16 against UC Irvine.

The Panther women's tennis team was one of the only two SCIAC teams able to play in the spring of 2021. Cal Lutheran and Chapman competed in four head-to-head matches and the Panthers swept with scores of 9-0, 5-4, 8-1 and 6-3.

The Chapman team brings back two key returners that were named All-SCIAC after the shortened 2020 season. Los Angeles native Aliya Allyn and returns to the team for another season in Panther uniform as a junior and is joined by senior Tatum Phillips.

 Allyn earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors early in the season as a freshman after helping Chapman to a 2-1 week to start the duel season.

SCIAC play will but begin until mid-March when Cal Lutheran will host Redlands on March 19 followed by all eight teams engaging in conference play that Fri., April 1, the Bulldogs will host the Panthers. The Athena's were the last to win the SCIAC Postseason Tournament in 2019, the most recent full season.
