Volleyball pushes No. 7 Cal Lutheran to four

ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University women's volleyball team fell in four sets 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 to No. 7-ranked Cal Lutheran University on Tuesday night at the Hutton Sports Center.

Despite a slow start in sets one and two, the Panthers rallied with intensity in set three to outhit the Reglas .371 to .189 with sophomore Kylie Cooke tallying five kills in the set.

Chapman (9-13 overall, 6-8 SCIAC) had three players collect double digit kills including Cooke who tallied nine on the night. Freshman OH Lindsey Johnson tallied eight digs and 12 kills, while senior captain Michele Hammer notched her ninth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 15 digs.

Cal Lutheran (22-4 overall, 12-2 SCIAC) impressed at the net all night with Sarah Papas hitting an impressive .522 at the net. Papas collected 13 kills and nine blocks on the night.

Freshman Jessica Blum tallied a career high of 27 assists in the four set match, while sophomore MB Ali Robinson added two blocks to her career in the first set.

The Panthers will travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday before returning home for their last regular match of the season against Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 31. On Saturday, Chapman will recognize four seniors prior to the Senior Day match with the first set which is set for 6 p.m.
