Women's volleyball earns AVCA academic honor

For the fifth consecutive year, the Chapman University volleyball team earned the Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The AVCA announced a record number of honored teams across high school and college volleyball.

Record number of student-athletes achieve academic distinction

Chapman University student-athletes raised the bar with a record number of 220 SCIAC All-Academic selections for the 2017-18 school year. This year marks the first time in Chapman’s six-year history in the SCIAC that more than 200 Panthers were included on the All-Academic teams.

Women's volleyball swept in SCIAC semifinal

The season came to end for the Chapman University volleyball team after a 25-17, 25-18, 25-11 loss to top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The Panthers made their first appearance in the conference tournament for the first time since 2013.

Friend and Cooke named to All-SCIAC Team

Two members of the Chapman University women’s volleyball team earned All-SCIAC honors, the conference announced on Monday. Junior Lauren Friend headlined Chapman’s selection with a spot on the first team, while senior Kylie Cooke was named to the second team.

Volleyball clinches SCIAC Tournament berth with 3-0 sweep over Oxy

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s volleyball team clinched a spot in the SCIAC postseason tournament this afternoon with a 25-19, 29-27, 25-14 sweep over Occidental (13-12, 8-8 SCIAC). This marks their first postseason appearance in four years.

Volleyball rolls to 3-0 victory over Caltech

October 25, 2017

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s volleyball team rolled to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-20 victory over Caltech on Wednesday night. The Panthers (14-10, 8-6 SCIAC) were led on offense and defense by junior Lauren Friend, who recorded 10 kills on .692 hitting and tallied five blocks.

Volleyball takes down another ranked team in a five-set thriller

October 21, 2017

Senior Kylie Cooke slammed down an over pass to complete a come-from-behind 25-20, 22-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-9 win over visiting La Verne on Saturday. With the win over the 24th-ranked Leopards, the Panthers defeated a ranked team on their home floor for the second time this year.

Volleyball suffers 3-1 loss to Cal Lutheran

The Chapman University volleyball team fell in four sets to visiting Cal Lutheran on Friday. After going down 2-0 in the match, the Panthers (11-9, 5-5 SCIAC) fought back to win the third but ultimately fell 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 25-15.

Women’s volleyball takes Vanguard to five sets

October 06, 2017

The Chapman University women’s volleyball team fell in five sets to Vanguard University Friday night at Hutton Sports Center. The Panthers put in a strong fight, coming back from down two sets to none to force a decisive fifth set. Junior Lauren Friend led both offense and defense for Chapman, tallying 15 kills on .250 hitting and eight blocks, including three solo blocks.

Women's volleyball falls in four to Pomona-Pitzer

The Chapman University women’s volleyball team suffered a 26-24, 9-25, 25-15, 25-16 loss to visiting Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. The loss was the first for the Panthers (11-5, 5-2 SCIAC) at home this year.

Women's volleyball sweeps Slugs

September 29, 2017

A sweep of visiting UC Santa Cruz put the Chapman University volleyball right back in the win column for its eighth win in the last nine matches. The Panthers (11-4) held the Banana Slug (3-10) to a sub-.100 hitting percentage to win 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

Cooke, Isabel named SCIAC Athletes of the week

September 25, 2017

Two more Chapman athletes were named SCIAC Athlete of the Week in their respective sports this week. Senior Kylie Cooke earned the nod after she helped the women’s volleyball team defeat No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, while fellow senior Jacob Isabel had a strong showing against Trinity, earning him the award.

Volleyball takes down No. 7 CMS in marathon match

September 23, 2017

It went the distance and then some but the Chapman University volleyball team finally secured the upset win over seventh-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to extend its winning streak to seven. The Panthers fought back from a 0-2 hole and needed 10 extra points in the fifth set to secure the 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 win.

Women's volleyball sweeps Redlands for fifth straight win

September 19, 2017

Four different players had eight or more kills as the Chapman University women’s volleyball team swept Redlands 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 for its fifth win in a row. The win streak is the longest in a single season since the 2012 Panthers won five in a row to start the SCIAC season.
