Lui becomes fourth Panther to earn weekly honor

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Mavis Lui became the fourth Panther to earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the Chapman University women's volleyball team. Lui was named the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week.

The junior right side from San Francisco, Calif. hit .315 for the week, averaging three kills per set. In the Panthers win over La Verne, Lui knocked down 11 kills on .346 hitting. Despite the loss at Cal Lutheran she hit 12 kills in three sets with a .370 hitting percentage.

She also had four blocks against La Verne and another pair against Cal Lutheran. She served up a pair of aces as well as the Panthers clinched a home match in the SCIAC Semifinals for the first time in program history.

Chapman's win over Whittier clinched at least the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament, which had yet to be accomplished since the Panthers joined the SCIAC in 2012.

The Panthers finish up the regular season this week with a match Caltech on Friday and a home match against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 4 p.m.
