SCIAC tabs Ford, Holmquist for All-Conference team

ORANGE, Calif. – Following a season in which the Chapman University women's water polo team earned its highest finish ever in the SCIAC standings, a pair of Panthers have been named to the All-SCIAC team for the 2015 season and a third was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Senior utility Riley Ford earned First Team All-SCIAC honors for the first time in her career after playing all 29 games this season and racking up a team-leading 56 goals and added 16 assists, including 13 multi-goal games. The two-time All-American led the team with 40 earned ejections and 49 steals as well.

Senior attacker Emily Holmquist was awarded Second Team honors after ranking second on the team with 30 assists and third with 41 goals. She also had 35 earned ejections, 33 steals, and a 25.8 shooting percentage.

Senior goalie Kirsten Spicer was named to the All-SCIAC Sportsmanship Team. The team captain ranks first in Chapman history with 490 career blocks. The goalie earned a 10.7 goals against average and racked up 226 blocks and 40 steals this season. She is also an ACWPC All-Academic Team and Capital One Academic All-District VIII honoree.

All three players helped the Panthers to an overall record of 14-15 season as well as a third-place finish in the SCIAC Championships and fourth-place finish in the conference standings, both program bests.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
