Water Polo finishes fourth in SCIAC Tournament

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team fell to No. 2-seeded Pomona-Pitzer 8-6 in the SCIAC Tournament third place match at Redlands on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers finished the tournament in fourth-place after going 1-2 on the weekend.

Pomona-Pitzer took an early 2-1 lead against the Panthers in the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams scored a pair of goals to move the score to 4-3 at the end of the first half. It wasn't until the third quarter that Pomona-Pitzer pulled away with a 3-0 run to lift the Sagehens lead to 7-3.

The Panthers rallied in the fourth quarter to tighten the score 8-6 with a three goal effort over the eight minute span. Senior Alison Quincy led the Panthers hat trick in the final quarter, scoring back-to-back goals to end the match.

Junior Lindsey Campbell also netted a pair of goals for the Panthers, scoring in the first and second quarter. Junior Emily Fong led the team with three assists while senior Kate Avery led Chapman with four steals.

Chapman concludes the season 10-20 overall and 5-6 in SCIAC play.
