The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced its annual women’s water polo All-Academic awards with Chapman University ranked 15th in the nation in team GPA and 11 individuals garnering recognition.
Chapman University’s student-athletes matched their record number with 221 SCIAC All-Academic selections in for the 2018-19 school year. The Panthers had the fourth-most selections of the nine schools in the SCIAC.

Senior Alyssa Welfringer closed out her career as the first Chapman University women’s water polo student-athlete to win the SCIAC Character Award. The distinction was announced in the release of the All-SCIAC teams on Thursday.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team beat the visiting Austin College Kangaroos 13-10 in the second game of a doubleheader after falling to Cal Lutheran 16-5 in the morning game. Junior Argelia Diaz tallied a hat trick in both games to help the Panthers.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team earned its first SCIAC win of the season with a 9-5 victory over Occidental College. Sophomore Lauren Dvonch led the way for the Panthers with three goals, two assists, and three steals.
The 2019 Chapman University women’s water polo team will jump into the pool for its first two contests of the season on Saturday at the Cal Baptist Mini. The Panthers were recently picked to finish sixth in the SCIAC in a poll of the conferences’ coaches.
