ACWPCA recognizes 12 Panthers on All-Academic team

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced its annual women's water polo All-Academic awards with Chapman University ranked 27th in the nation in team GPA and 12 Panthers earning the academic recognition.

Chapman matched its GPA from a year ago with a 3.42 team GPA to rank in the top-30 in the nation among women's water polo teams from all three divisions in the NCAA.

Three-time All-America selectio Audrey Hattori was one of four Panthers to earn the highest academic recognition in the Outstanding category. Chelsea Farinaro, Maggie O'Callaghan and Roisin Cunningham Smythe joined Hattori with the highest honor going to those student-athletes finishing the 2019-20 school year with a 3.71 GPA or better.

The ACWPC also recognizes two more individual teams for academic success. Charlene Ma, Terra Gamboa, Kylie Beloian, Julia Bridges, Camille Chiang and Ally Long were honored in the Superior category with GPAs between a 3.41 and 3.70. Two more Panthers landed in the Excellent category with GPAs between a 3.20-3.40: Paige Gurich and Abigial Wisdom.

The All-Academic team award marks the ninth year in a row that head coach Eric Ploessel's squad has earned the distinction and the 15th time in his 17 years at the helm of the program.
