Kotz leads cross country teams at Cougar Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Chapman University cross country teams continued the 2022 season at the Cougar Challenge in San Marcos, Calif. Tasha Kotz was the Panthers' top individual finisher and began her season with a new personal-best.

Kotz finished her first race with a 22:42.0 to take 35th overall out of 187 runner. Kotz's time is the third-best on Chapman's top-10 list. Olivia Armstrong was Chapman's next finisher with a 23:15.2 in 61st. Annika Carlson wasn't far behind in 67th with a 23:23.6.

Kayla Almeida opened her season with a 24:29.7 and Kendall Clark rounded out the team scoring when she finished with a time of 25:03.5. As a team, the Panthers finished 14th overall, averaging a time of 23:46.

David Anderson led the men's team in the 8k, finishing with a time of 27:21.0. Jacob Millen ran a 27:41.5 and Zach Leith wasn't far behind with a 27:52.3. Tyler Coker finished off the team scoring as the fifth Panther across the finish line at 28:11.1. As a team, the Panthers finished 15th.

The Panthers have one more race before the SCIAC Championships, heading to the UC Riverside Invitational on Oct. 15.
