Baseball drops game two to Kingsmen

ORANGE, Calif. — Baseball suffered a tough loss to the defending SCIAC champion Kingsmen at home, 8-3 in the second round of the SCIAC tournament.

The Kingsmen got to starting pitcher Wyatt Thompson early, tacking on two runs before the Panthers even recorded an out in the top of the first.

Chapman erased that deficit with runs in the second and third innings. However, Cal Lutheran put up a big three spot in the top of the fourth, which the Panthers were unable to come back from.

Thompson finished the game with four earned runs in four-and-a-third innings pitched. Hank Tobias posted a strong three-and-two-thirds innings of relief allowing just one run.

Offensively, Brad Shimabuku notched a three hit day, while AJ Anzai and Ryan Nopper each had two knocks.

The Panthers are back in action at La Verne tomorrow in an elimination game against the Leopards at 11 a.m. La Verne beat CMS in an elimination game today, 12-8.
