Chabot earns top rookie honor, five earn All-Region

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team had five student-athletes recognized on All-Region teams as both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their annual All-Region selections. Henry Chabot and AJ Anzai were unanimous selections with Chabot earning D3baseball.com Region 10 Rookie of the Year honors.

Chabot was the only freshman recognized on D3baseball.com's All-Region 10 teams, earning a spot as the Second Team relief pitcher and the Rookie of the Year. He was also a Second Team selection for the ABCA as well after posting a 1.27 ERA with eight saves in his freshman season. Chabot made a team-high 20 appearances out of the bullpen, giving up just three earned runs over 21.1 innings with 20 strikeouts. He is the first Chapman player to be honored as the top rookie in the region by D3baseball.com.

Anzai was another unanimous decision as a utility player for the second consecutive year, earning First Team honors from D3baseball.com and Second Team from the ABCA. He led Chapman with a .360 batting average and was tops on the team with 39 RBIs. He hit five doubles, three triple and five home runs while drawing 30 walks. On the mound, he went 3-2 with 19 strikeouts over 30.2 innings. He made four starts an ended the season with a 4.70 ERA.

Wyatt Thompson was Chapman's third and final selection on the D3baseball.com All-Region 10 teams, earning a Third Team nod for his second career All-Region award. His 3.07 ERA led Chapman starters. He struck out 81 over 76.1 innings and went 5-4 with a pair of complete games. Max Banks represented the Panthers' rotation on the ABCA Third Team. He fanned 84 batters over 76 innings, posting a 6-3 record in 12 starts with a 3.43 ERA.

Oli Sellman was the Panthers' fourth selection to the ABCA Al-Region teams with a spot on the Third Team. He led the Panthers with a .983 OPS while hitting .352. He ranked second on the team with 36 RBIs and led the squad with 12 stolen bases.

Chapman finished the season in the championship game of the SCIAC Tournament, posting a 28-16 overall record.
