A record number of Chapman student-athletes earn SCIAC All-Academic
July 18, 2022
Chapman University student-athletes set a new school record with 281 individuals earning SCIAC All-Academic recognition. The 281 individuals to earn the annual academic recognition are 22 more than year’s record-breaking number. The SCIAC annually recognizes student-athletes who have been at their institution for at least one academic year and finished the school year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better.
Keefe earns two more All-American awards

Senior Dillon Keefe earned 2021-22 D3football.com First Team All-American honors for the second consecutive season on Friday, he earned the distinction as one of the best linebackers in Division III.
AFCA honors Keefe as First Team All-American

Senior Dillon Keefe made more history as the American Football Coaches Association recognized him as a First Team All-American on Tuesday. Keefe earned the distinction as one of the best linebackers in Division III for the second consecutive season.

Seniors Dillon Keefe and Alex Waddell repeated as D3football.com All-Region selections while junior Owen Tapia earned his first All-Region nod. The three Panther picks comprised half of the SCIAC ‘s six total selections.

Senior Dillon Keefe was once again recognized as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year and fellow senior Duncan Heger was honored with the John Zinda Award to highlight 14 Panthers included on the All-SCIAC teams.
Mendoza earns final SCIAC weekly offensive award

Senior Tanner Mendoza closed out the season with a pair of touchdowns and a SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week award. Mendoza had his biggest game of the season and came through in the clutch moments of the game.
Football defeats La Verne to close out season

The Chapman University football team beat the La Verne Leopards 35-32 in their final regular season game of 2021-22. A fourth quarter scoring effort led the Panthers to overcome a ten-point deficit.
Football falls in home finale

The Chapman University football team fell 42-34 to visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday. The Panthers celebrated 33 seniors in a pre-game ceremony and capped off Chapman University’s Homecoming Family Weekend.
Baierl gets second SCIAC weekly award

Junior Ken Baierl was awarded the SCIAC Specialist of the Week honors after helping the Panthers to a 27-14 victory over Pomona-Pitzer. The recognition is the second weekly award for Baierl this season.

In a game marred by nine total turnovers, the Chapman University football team came away with a 27-14 road win at Pomona-Pitzer. The Panthers (6-2, 3-1 SCIAC) held the Sagehens to negative rushing yards and the defense did not allow any points in the second half.

The Chapman football team fell 28-24 to the Redlands Bulldogs in a close battle on the road. The Panthers remain second in the SCIAC.
Dominant defensive effort leads to win over Cal Lutheran

A dominant performance from the Chapman University football team led to a 42-13 win over previously unbeaten Cal Lutheran on Saturday. The defense stifled Cal Lutheran’s offense and scored its third touchdown of the season on the way to stay undefeated in the SCIAC.

The Chapman University football team (1-0(4-1)) defeated the Whittier Poets (0-2(0-5)) 57-14 on Wilson Field in their first SCIAC match of the 2021 season.

Keefe honored on D3football.com Team of the Week

Senior linebacker Dillon Keefe was selected to D3football.com’s Team of the Week for the first time this season after Chapman’s 23-21 win over George Fox. It is the third time in his career that he has been earned the weekly honor.
