Men's basketball returns to Hutton

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University men's basketball team opens their 2021-22 home schedule on Fri., Nov. 12 and hosts the University of Puget Sound in the Hutton Sports Center. After an absence of conference basketball in 2020-21, all nine teams are back on the hardwood with SCIAC play slated to begin on Dec. 1.

The Panthers take the court with some key returning talent from the 2019-20 season after finishing sixth in the SCIAC with a 7-9 conference record. 2020 Second Team All-SCIAC senior Hayden Moore returns to the court after appearing in and starting 25 games during his first season as a Panther. He led the squad in scoring with 15.2 points per game and dished out a season-high 27 against Cal Lutheran. He shot 97.7% from the three throw line making 43 of 44 attempts.

After transferring in from Chestnut Hill College, senior Alex Rogat started 20 of the 25 games for the Panthers in 2019-20. The Vienna, Austria native scored double digits 13 times on the season recording a season-high 25 against Bethesda. Senior forward Chandler White returns to the squad in his fourth year at Chapman. He appeared in and started 22 games for the Panthers in 2019-20 and was second on the team with 13 points per game.

Anthony Giomi appeared in 20 games for the Panthers in 2019-20 tallying 49 points in 155 minutes played on the season. The Seattle, Wash. native grabbed a season high seven rebounds against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Senior Daniel Foldes hits the hardwood for his fourth year after appearing in 24 games in 2019-20, he scored a season high 14 twice against West Coast Baptist and Claremont-M-S.  

The incoming squad introduces promising fresh talent alongside the returning leadership. Freshman Presley Eldridge earned 2020 First Team All-South Coast League and 2020 Second Team All-Orange County honors while at Mission Viejo High School and led his team in scoring.

Sophomore Andrew Ingalls and classmate Nathan Williams were two sport athletes in High School and played basketball for all four years. Ingalls was a pitcher and first baseman for Mountainside's baseball team in 2019 while Williams was a Scholar Athlete all four years at Canyon High School in Anaheim, he played volleyball for two. Freshman Kyle Lewis was a 2019-20 All-CCS Honorable Mention

The Panthers kick of the season this Friday at home against Puget Sound and hit the road next Tues., Nov. 16 to face La Sierra. SCIAC play begins Dec. 1 when the Panthers host Pomona-Pitzer in the Hutton Center at 7 p.m.
