Rogat named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – It was a dominant week for the Chapman University men's basketball team, especially on the defensive end. Senior Alex Rogat was in the middle of the defensive effort and was rewarded with SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.

Rogat and the Panthers held Whitman and UC Santa Cruz to just 38 percent shooting over three games last week as the Panthers continued on their early season roll. The Blues and Slugs combined to turn the ball over 46 times and shoot 31.5 percent from three-point range.

Rogat protected the lane with four blocks in the three games and led the team with seven rebounds per game. He also had three steals and 10 assists on the week. He has eight blocks in Chapman's first five games – just three shy of his total from the 2019-20 season. He also has 17 assists compared to just four turnovers.

The Panthers swept through rematches against Whitman and UC Santa Cruz in northern California over the weekend, defeating the Slugs 74-59 and the Blues 71-60.
