Moore's hot hand leads to SCIAC weekly honor

ORANGE, Calif. – A week of highlights has led to SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week honors for senior Hayden Moore. The Chapman University men's basketball sharp shooter had the best week of his career in guiding the Panthers to two wins.

Moore had the hot hand all week, making 19 three-pointers on 30 tries – an incredible 63.3 percent. Moore made a career-best 10 three-pointers on Wednesday against La Sierra with eight coming in the second half as Chapman pulled away. He knocked down eight more three-point shots in the opening half of the blowout win over West Coast Baptist on Saturday.

He scored 59 points over the two games and grabbed 13 rebounds with three assists. His 10 three-pointers against La Sierra rank as the second-highest single game total in Chapman history.

With 19 threes over the last two games, Moore is averaging 4.22 made three-pointers per game – the fourth-highest average in Division III. He is making 47.5 percent of his three-point attempts this season.

The Panthers are off for the week during Finals Week at Chapman but return on Sunday, Dec. 19 to take on SUNY Oneonta at 5 p.m.
