Foldes wins Ducey Award, Roggin All-SCIAC

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Jack Roggin repeated as an All-SCIAC First Team selection while Daniel Foldes became Chapman's second recipient of the Ted Ducey Award. Roggin earned his second career honor with Foldes earning his first.

Foldes joins Garrett James as the only two Panthers to earn the Ted Ducey Award since the Panthers joined the conference in 2012-13. The Ted Ducey Award recognizes a senior player in the SCIAC who best exemplifies the high ideals demonstrated by its namesake – the former head basketball coach at Claremont College.

Foldes has been a four-year contributor for the Panthers, coming mainly off the bench his first three years before jumping into a starting role this year. He averaged 8.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists this year. As he has grown as a player, he has also grown as a leader within the program. His coaches and teammates describe him as selfless, passionate, charismatic, reliable, and the ultimate teammate. He is respected and admired by his teammates and has helped tie the locker room together with his magnetic personality.

Roggin is just the third Chapman student-athlete to earn First Team honors twice in his career, joining Cam Haslam and Colin Zvarsnick. He ranked second in the conference in scoring this year at 18.4 points per game in SCIAC games. He also ranked fifth in minutes per game and second for made three-pointers. He scored a career-best 35 points in a win over Occidental and scored 34, including the game-winning free throws, in a 75-74 win at Cal Lutheran.

He finished his two-year career at Chapman ranked second in points per game after leading the Panthers in the category for two years in a row.

Roggin played through a late season injury to help the Panthers to a three-game winning streak to end the season. Chapman finished 13-11 overall and 7-9 in the SCIAC, finishing in fifth place in the standings.
