Lu leaps up leaderboard on day two of SCIAC Championships

BEAUMONT, Calif. – Bradley Lu jumped up nine spots on the leaderboard to lead the Chapman University men's golf team on day two of the SCIAC Championships. Lu shot an even par 72 to move into fifth in the second round.

As a team, the Panthers fell into eighth place but are just three strokes behind Cal Lutheran and Occidental, who are tied for sixth. Chapman turned in a team score of 309 (+21) – 14 strokes better than Sunday's opening round score.

Lu opened the tournament with a 78 (+6). He birdied two holes and eagled the 13th hole to stay even with par for the day. Charlie Shumway carded an 81 (+9) in both the first and second rounds and currently sits in 29th. Jake Ivan-Pal opened with an 84 (+12) but shaved off six strokes in the second round to finish six-over par and sits tied with Shumway.

Rodrigo Duran is 19-over par in 35th. Dylan Horowitz was eight strokes better in the second round than the first with a 78 (+6) and is one stroke behind Duran in 39th.

The SCIAC Championships wrap up with tomorrow's third round. The Panthers tee off between 10-10:40 a.m.
