Men’s soccer tops Westcliff in last minute victory

ORANGE, Calif. - The Panther men's soccer team secured a 3-2 victory over Westcliff on Sat., Sept. 4 in a battle that came down to the final seconds. 

The Panthers struck first with a Peter Senko rocket into the goal 25 minutes into the first half. Thomas Peirce was awarded the assist. The Warriors answered with a Kay Maletski goal to put the score at 1-1 going into the half. Nick Frost was awarded the assist for Westcliff. 

The Panthers were back on top entering the second with a Riley Thomas shot just 2:34 into the half that set the score at 2-1. Westcliff answered with a Quentin Hornung shot that tied the match 2-2. 

Aidan Wall continued as a powerhouse on the Chapman roster, scoring the game-winning goal with just 1:07 on the clock. Treyden Buder-Nakasone was granted the assist on the shot. Chandler Siemonsma held the Warriors at two with six saves on the 15 shots taken by Westcliff. 

The Panthers are back on Wilson Field Tues., Sep 7 to take on Providence Christian at 4 p.m.
