Men's soccer defeats Sagehens, Wall scores 10th goal

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman men's soccer team defeated the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens 1-0 in the fourth home victory of the 2021 season. Senior Aidan Wall climbed further up the Panther leaderboard scoring his 10th goal.

The first half remained scoreless after multiple close calls in Sagehen territory with shots from Garrett Lindfelt and Tobi Howe. The Panthers tallied five shots on goal compared to the Sagehens three, Chapman led in possession time by a thin margin.

The lone goal of the game came early in the second half, less than five minutes in. A rocket off the foot of Riley Thomas found Wall who snuck the ball under Pomona-Pitzers' Ethan Bae into the right corner. The score was set at its final 1-0, the Panthers took the victory despite playing down a man for the last ten minutes of the second after Matthew Urata-Espinosa earned the red.

Chandler Siemonsma racked up three more saves on the game bringing his season total to 36.

The Panthers hit the road to face Redlands on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match. Chapman returns home on Wed., Oct. 20 to face the Poets at 4 p.m.
