ORANGE, Calif — Men's soccer won its third contest in four matches on Saturday, Oct. 8 after a 7-2 rout of the Caltech Beavers.
Hayden Rouse and Aidan Wall found the back of the net two times apiece and a five-goal second half spearheaded the Chapman offensive attack to its second-highest goals scored total on the season, behind 12 scored in the 12-1 victory over Bethesda.
The Panthers led 2-0 at the break, with Tobi Howe and Rouse scoring the two goals. Howe connected on his seventh goal of the season, tying for the second most goals in SCIAC, only behind fellow Panther Wall, who scored his eighth and ninth goals tonight.
The scoring floodgates opened in the second half around the 60 minute mark, when the two teams combined for five of the game's nine goals.
The Panthers improve to 6-1-4 on the season and 4-1-2 in SCIAC play. The victory helped the team jump to first in the SCIAC standings with three weeks of regular season play remaining.
Chapman will play at home again on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when they host Redlands at 4 p.m.
