Panthers fall to No. 16 Carnegie Mellon, 7-2
ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University men's tennis team fell below .500 with a 7-2 loss at the hands of visiting Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) - ranked No. 16 in Division III - on Sunday. The Panthers fell to 3-4 this season with Sunday's defeat.
The loss was Chapman's home debut after beginning the season on the road for its first six matches and breaking even 3-3.
Senior Clifford Yook improved to 5-2 in singles play this season with a straight sets win over Carnegie Mellon's James Muliawan, 6-2, 6-1. It was Yook's fifth win in six matches and he is now 12-2 overall.
Sophomore Leland Buttle earned Chapman's other point with a singles victory from the No. 4 position. Buttle won 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 over Ravi Raghavan for the second time this season and snapped four-match losing streak.
